Commissioned by Arts Mildura for Mildura Palimpsest #9

Going Somewhere explored negotiations of place and identity through acts of intervention in the Mildura landscape. The project was inspired by the unique history of Mildura as Australia’s first ‘irrigation colony,’ responding to themes of productive and unproductive labour, community progress, cultivated landscapes, and ephemeral land art practices.

 

Through a series of site-specific video, sculpture and performance works, Going Somewhere presented an ambivalent view of progress and development within the context of Mildura’s civic history and future ambitions.

 

This project received funding from the College of Fine Arts , Sydney, and an Art and Design Grant from Arc@COFA.
