Shit Bricks : son
(2023)

 6 miniature sun-cured bricks

Baby poo, pool water, dirt.

Commissioned for "We’re All Somebody’s Child" — a group exhibition at Casula Powerhouse, Sydney, exploring collaborations between parents and children in contemporary art.

6 miniature bricks were made using baby poo from Dillon's second child, pool water, and dirt collected from the garden of her childhood home in Sydney, then dried on the tin roof of the shed. Shit Bricks playfully reclaims the language of minimalist sculpture to propose a new standard unit of measurement for the often invisible and undervalued labour of infant care.

The exhibition also featured works by Paula do Prado and Tomas Marinangeli, Andrew Brooks and Arvind Rosa Brooks, Elisa Jane Carmichael, Amani Haydar, Harriet Body and Ted Bingham, Hossei, Atong Atem, and Julie Sundberg.
