The Birthday Party was a performance, video and installation work that explored rituals of self-celebration. The work featured a live spectacle of grotesque self-inflation, paired with a video installation investigating modes of attention-seeking behaviours. The role of the breath in celebratory rituals was explored through a series of costumed endurance acts that involved the inflation of various party paraphernalia.
